PACKAGE
DESCRIPTION:
A fiber-reinforced factory blended cement scratch and brown coat for use in 3 coat stucco conforming to ASTM C 926.
Factory prepared blend of portland cement, fibers, and proprietary ingredients.
Specified sand conforming to ASTM C 897 is added at job site.
Can be used as a component of a wall to achieve a 1 hour fire resistance-related assembly. Refer to applicable codes for requirements.

USES:
As a stucco base, apply Parex Fiber-47 over:
1. Metal lath, including paper backed lath.
2. Masonry and concrete.

COMPOSITION:
Binder: Portland cement.
Reinforcement: Glass fibers. Add specified sand at job site.
Color: Grey.

KEY PHYSICAL PROPERTIES:
Meets code criteria for exterior portland cement plaster.

COVERAGE:
Depending on the condition of substrate and the thickness of application, approximate coverages are:
at 3/8 in. (9.5mm):
100 - 140 ft², 11-15.5 yd², (9.3 - 13 m²)
at 3/4 in. (19mm):
50 - 70 ft², 5.5-7.8 yd², (4.6 - 6.5 m²)

CONTAINER:
80 lbs. (36 kg) net weight in mulit-wall, water-resistant bag.
Storage: Store off ground and protect from rain and moisture.
Shelf Life:: Six months if protected from sun, freezing and moisture.

WORKING TIME:
Sets in 30-45 minutes after mixing, depending upon conditions.

SURFACE PREPARATION:
On masonry and concrete, apply only to surfaces that are sound, clean, dry, unpainted, and free of any residue which may affect the ability of Parex Fiber-47™ to bond to the surface.
On lathed construction, apply to lath (metal plaster bases) installed in accordance with ASTM C 1063. Cover wood-based sheathings with two layers of "10 Minute" or, if lath is applied over EPS, one layer of "60 Minute" grade D building paper weather barrier. Other sheathed substrates require one layer of building paper.

Fiber-47™ requires weather barrier installed and flashed in accordance with the building code and to form a water-shedding surface. Stucco is not a weather barrier.
Do not apply to substrates which are frozen or contain frost or ice.
Apply to surface prepared as for portland cement plaster. Mix and install scratch and brown coats in accordance with ASTM C 926.

MIXING:
Mixing ratio: Mix 5.5-6.5 gal. (20.5-24.5 L) of water and 220-360 lbs. (100-163 kg) of sand that meets ASTM C 897 to each bag of Fiber-47™ at the time of use.
Use cool, clean water; let hose run to clear it of hot water.
Optional: Use 1 gallon of Adacryl added to water per bag to improve workability, bond, and strength. Only Parex Adacryl should be used.
No other additives of any kind, such as portland cement, lime, rapid binders, antifreeze, accelerators, etc. should be added under any circumstances.
Mix 3-5 minutes.
Stop mixer and allow mix to slake for 8 minutes.
Briefly re-mix before using.

APPLICATION:
Apply by hand trowel or plaster gun to 3/8 in. (9.5 mm) thick scratch coat and scarify horizontally for a mechanical key.
Moist cure scratch coat for 48 hours or apply second coat (brown coat) as soon as scratch coat is rigid enough to receive it. Alternate method: apply the brown coat as soon as the scratch coat has attained sufficient rigidity to receive the brown coat.
Apply brown coat. Rod brown coat to a true and even plane to provide a total thickness of at least 3/4 in. or up to 7/8 in. when specified. Float brown coat with a wood float to provide an open surface for portland cement based finish. Trowel brown coat smooth for acrylic finish.
For portland cement-based stucco finish, lightly moisten the surface of brown coat before application.
Texture may be applied as soon as base has set sufficiently to receive it.
Parex Fiber-47™ should be kept moist by fogging with water for at least 48 hours after application, or longer in dry weather.
Start light fogging after initial set of 1-2 hours.
Allow Parex Fiber-47™ to dry thoroughly before applying acrylic primers or finishes.

LIMITATIONS:
Parex Fiber-47™ materials described should not be applied if ambient temperatures cannot be kept above 40°F (4°C) during application and drying period. Prior to installation, the wall should be free of residual moisture.
For installation in temperatures less than 40°F, supplementary heat must be provided.
Parex Fiber-47™ should not be applied if ambient temperature will exceed 120°F (49°C) within 24 hours of application.
Protect plaster from uneven and excessive evaporation during hot, dry weather.
